October 25th - 12pm-5pmThe Creative Heart
A gentle pause from the pace of everyday life. The Creative Heart is an invitation to meet within community, to drop into the heart space, and to honour the Fire Horse with a Cacao celebration.
We will be gathering at my wonderful mother Annette’s pottery studio, Grub Pottery in Kangaroo Ground, on a beautiful property surrounded by trees.
Participants will be invited to celebrate with a Cacao brew and create unique pottery creations using a Japanese technique called Raku, with horsehair.
They will be able to choose from unique hand thrown peices to then decorate with the horsehair, sugar, and feathers. If you are a potter, you’re welcome to bring your own piece, more details below.
These creations will be able to be taken home on the day as a reminder of their inner fire.
Reconnect with your body and mind as you escape the noise of everyday life.
What the day looks like
As everyone arrives, we take time to settle in, get comfortable, and begin connecting with those around us. We will connect to the fire element and be invited to celebrate with a mug of warm cacao.
Then we will gather around the fire pits and the kiln to start working through our pieces. This day is centered around community and connection.
Can I bring my own pottery?Yes you can, so long as it is within 16cm H 10cm W and bisque-fired. Horsehair works best on burnished pieces for cleaner, more defined lines. Please reach out for a discount code.
I don't know anything about pottery, can I still come?Yes this day is led by my amazing mother Annette Nobes and myself, who are experienced with Raku. We will be able to guide you through the process so no experience is necessary.
Do I need to bring lunch? There will be snack food available so if you would like to bring something more substantial please do so.
What happens if it's raining? We have undercover areas so the day will go ahead.
Will we be inside? We will be outside for the whole afternoon so please ensure you bring warm clothing.
